Gulf-South Asia Gas Project (GUSA)
Gusa

The Gusa Upstream Development

The upstream part of the GUSA Project includes the development of a sector of the North Field of Qatar to produce natural gas for export to the Pakistan markets.

The GUSA Upstream Development is to produce 1600 MMscfpd of pipeline quality gas for export through the GUSA Pipeline to the markets in Pakistan. Additionally, the Upstream Development Project will produce a substantial amount of condensate and gas liquids which will be marketed separately.

The Gusa Pipeline

Gulf-South Asia Gas Project (GUSA)Crescent Petroleum has thus far expended more than US $30 million on the development scheme of the GUSA Project. The engineering design of the pipeline has been completed. The routing of the pipeline is based on a detailed onshore and offshore route survey undertaken and completed by Fugro International for the Company. One intermediate compressor station is planned to be located at Dibba on the eastern coast of the UAE.

The GUSA Project carries enormous environmental benefits, regionally and globally, which will ensue when the natural gas replaces the large quantity of fuel oil that is currently used in Pakistan at burner tips.

  • The GUSA Project comprises two main parts, viz the Upstream Development to produce the gas at the source in Qatar, and the Pipeline, which will transport the gas to Pakistan.
  • The Upstream part includes the development of a sector of the North Field of Qatar to produce natural gas of up to 1600 MMscfpd of pipeline quality gas for export to the Pakistan markets.
  • The Pipeline between Qatar and Pakistan, being 1186 kilometers, supports the economics of a large diameter pipeline project.
  • Total project costs incurred to-date in excess of US $ 30 million.
